In 1990 the City of East Moline’s Citizens Advisory Committee recommended the establishment of a private economic development organization to assist the City of East Moline in their economic development efforts. Revitalize and Develop East Moline (REDEEM) has been in the revitalizing and developing business since 1991. This private- public partnership was formed and dedicated to job creation and retention; return blighted properties to the tax rolls; and overall economic and quality of life improvement. Many successful projects have followed and REDEEM has continued to follow these guiding principles and the overall intent has evolved as times have changed. Facilitating, consulting, and assisting businesses and the City are our hallmarks. REDEEM is a private not-for-profit 501-c-3 dedicated to our founding principles.
The first phase of condominiums constructed by B & L Development at The Quarter have been constructed and all 20 condos have been sold with just a few waiting for the sale to close. The second phase of construction has started with an additional 18 units to be completed. These condominiums are on the riverfront and are moderately priced.
Green Current Solutions becomes operational. They are creating custom injection molded pallets using 100% recycled HDPE (high density polyethylene), using a portion of Ocean Bound Plastics collected at Living Lands & Waters' river cleanups.
The City of East Moline will receive nearly $24 million in federal infrastructure funding for its downtown revitalization project, Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth with Congresswoman Cheri Bustos announced Thursday.
“On behalf of The City of East Moline, I would like to thank Congresswoman Bustos, and Senators Durbin, and Duckworth for the assistance with our RAISE Grant application,” said East Moline Mayor Reggie Freeman. “This goes to show what can come to reality when all elected officials, including our local and State of Illinois elected officials, work together to bring better growth to local municipalities. I also tip my hat to the hard work our staff has done over the last three years!”
